President Trump’s new mouthpiece Anthony Scaramucci flagged the FBI — in a since-deleted tweet — to a possible leak of his financial disclosure in a report.
The White House communications director on Wednesday night openly warned a leaker for sharing a financial disclosure form he filed with the Office of Government Ethics. He later deleted the Twitter dispatch without explanation.
The form, obtained by Politico, revealed Scaramucci earned $ 4.9 million from his investment firm SkyBridge Capital and another $ 5 million from Export-Import Bank. Scaramucci’s multi-million earnings in 2016 suggest he could continue to make money despite his new position in the White House.
“In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony,” Scaramucci said. “I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept #swamp @Reince45.”
Scaramucci’s stern caution to future whistleblowers comes as he pledged to fire those responsible for other disclosures in the leaky communications department.
“It the leaks continue, then I’ve got to let everybody go,” Scaramucci said Tuesday night.
It was initially unclear why Scaramucci tagged White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus at the tail end of his first tweet. He took to Twitter again just before 1 a.m. Thursday to slam reports that he wanted Priebus investigated by authorities for those leaks.
“Tweet was public notice to leakers that all (senior administration) officials are helping to end illegal leaks. @Reince45,” Scaramucci tweeted.
